Alone in my head during Hot Yoga

My head is a crazy place you guys. Sometimes scary. Sometimes hilarious. Mostly just totally random.

Case in point: how last night’s Hot Yoga class went…

Teacher: Let’s move to the front of the mat, toes and ankles together, standing nice and tall…

Shit it’s hot in here…then again it is hot yoga…it’s like a sauna {said just like the Progressive commercial}…ha, that commercial cracks me up…oh but the Geico Hump Day commercial is even better….GUESS WHAT DAY IT IS!?…Guess what day.it.is…Harper’s version of that is so funny…Mandy’s getting close to her due date now…

Straighten and lift your right leg to the back of the wall letting your heel drop over your opposite hip, looking at your heel through your armpit…

She wants me to do what with my leg!?…keep your pelvic floor tight Kat…don’t queef…don’t fart…tighten…damn this is a good stretch…I’m going to have to remember this one to show Rylee…it cracks me up how much she loves yoga…I wonder if she’ll become a yoga instructor when she gets older…

Step your left foot through to lunge, windmill your arms up to warrior 2…

Did Vanilla Ice really just come one!?…All right stop, collaborate and listen ice is back with a brand new invention something grabs a hold of me tightly – …man, I love that song…

Place your hands under your hips, palms facing the floor. If you can, try and touch your hands together…

Are my arms really supposed to go that direction?…maybe it feels so weird because my arms are so long…I swear the only good thing about having such long arms is for having a long draw length…gosh I haven’t shot my bow in so long…I kind of miss it…Oh the other good thing my long arms are good for is group selfies…like in Zona with the girls…those girls are the best…I really miss them…I hate geography…

…making sure your shin is parallel to the front of the room, place your opposite ankle over your knee stacking your shins, engage your core, lean forward…

Holy crap I am hot…I could totally do this in just my sports bra like those skinny girls who clearly have no children..I look pretty damn good for just having a baby…I guess it has been a year technically but still…I wonder if my belly button will ever go back to how it used to be…man I am slippery from my sweat…gross…

Back into child’s pose for 5 breaths…

Oh my gosh I am going to be so sore tomorrow…this was way harder than last week…I bet I really stink right now…I cannot wait to take a shower…oh my arms are throbbing…

Namaste.

That’s it?…I can’t wait until next time.

Then vs. Now…The girls at 1

Looking though all of the photos from Reese’s party made me reminisce Ry’s first birthday party. So, I thought it’d be fun to do a “side by side” of both the girls on their first birthdays.

First Reese…

This post has no point. I just love looking at photos of the girls when they’re about the same age.

Happy Wednesday!

A Party for Reese

My original plan was to pretty much do nothing for Reese’s birthday. She’s one, who cares was my thinking. Then Saturday morning while sipping my coffee and writing out my grocery list, I was thinking about snacks & beverages for the party. I thought a lemonade stand would be fun and then it all spiraled from there.

The lemonade stand was kind of the center of the party…lemonade, sun tea, frozen fruits to put in the lemonade. Mason jars, paper name tags tied with twine and paper straws were a hit. There was also a giant tub full of other beverages; soda, beer, etc.  Then I had a “Summer is Sweet” table with different kinds of candy, I had a “Cool off with a Sno-Cone” station (the kids LOVED that), and a “snack stand” with chips & dips, a veggie tray etc.

I ordered cupcakes for the first time ever, {I normally make them} and I’m officially a convert. While she wasn’t so sure about 20-30 people standing around singing at/to her, Reese loved her cupcake.

We ended the party by opening her gifts. For being 1 she seemed pretty into it.

All in all, it was pretty low-key. Just family and our closest friends gathered around to celebrate our sweet Baby Reese. Exactly what I had envisioned.

One

My Sweet Reesie-Bug…today you are one year old. One. ONE. 1. If you can’t tell, I’m still in disbelief. This last year has flown faster than any year in my life. And even though I’d like to ignore the fact that your birthday means you are that much closer to no longer being a baby, I can’t let today go by without acknowledging the one and only you.

Over the course of the last year, not only have you filled each day with joy, you have made our family complete.

It has been {and will continue to be} amazing to watch you grow and learn.

Over the course of the last 12 months we have learned that…

You are fierce. You are strong-willed. You have an amazing sense of humor. You are impossible to scare. You are a climber. You are our daredevil child. You are feisty. You have eyelashes that go on for days. Your eyes are fiery. You are spirited. You are loud. You are a snuggle bug. You have a thing for ears when you get sleepy. You adore your sister. You are very easy going. You love to eat. You are a mover and a shaker. You love the water. You have a smile that is contagious. You are intelligent. You are beautiful.

I often call you my little hurricane baby.

It’s hard to believe you’ve been with us for a whole year but we already couldn’t imagine our lives without you and I am looking forward to celebrating many more birthdays with you.

I love you more than life,

Mama

C K Say I Do!

The entire reason we went to Hawaii was because my sister was getting married there! I’ve been wishing/hoping a family member or close friend would have a destination wedding for quite some time because DUH! Automatic vacation!

The wedding was beautiful and I hope it was everything my sister and her husband had hoped it would be.

I originally had about 20 photos of their day to share in this post, then I really thought about it and even though I took the photos, even though they’re living in my computer and even though I edited a bunch of them, they aren’t really mine to share, ya know?

But the wedding and the day was too fantastic not to share so I figured if I’m in the photo or if my kids are in the photo, they’re fair game. So here’s a few shots from my sister’s Hawaiian wedding…

Sis, if you’re reading this {and I know you are} you were a beautiful bride. You will make a wonderful wife and someday an amazing mother. Thank you for letting me be a part of your big day. I’m so happy that I can call you my sister and my friend. I love you.

Oh, and P.S. I’m SO glad you decided to do this! ;-)
