Currently and such

It’s Thursday! And I’ve now blogged twice in one week! {Working on getting back into the groove here, people}

Not Loving back to school time. My temporary stay at home dad/house husband started back at work this week. You know how kids hate starting back to school? Yea so do a lot of teachers. And their spouses. Me being one of them. I don’t think I’ve done more that 3 loads of laundry since we’ve been home from Hawaii. Yep. Sorry ladies, he’s taken. And since he has to leave for work at 6:30 in the morning, the girls and I are in the process of finding our morning groove all while making it to the end of our driveway by 7:15 AM for Rylee to catch the bus. Since she doesn’t start the bus riding until the week after next we’ve decided to practice this week and next. So far we’re 3/4. Not too shabby.

Cleaning my kitchen every night. There is just something so gratifying about turning off the kitchen light at the end of an evening and knowing my counters are clean and that when I come home from work the next day and need to get started on dinner, I’ll have a nice clean kitchen waiting for me. Plus, a dirty kitchen tends to be my main trigger of anxiety/overwhelming feelings so I’m trying my best to stay on top of that, particularly as we make the transition back to school.

Working a lot lately. A lot. My days are filled to the brim and I’ve been working some weekends recently too. There are some big-huge-amazing things we are on the brink of here. It’s super-exciting to be a part of it, but also exhausting. I’m trying to keep my head above water while maintaining a positive attitude. Sometimes that doesn’t exactly happen. Actually, these last couple of weeks it hasn’t really happened at all. I’m a big ball of fun. Let.Me.Tell.You.

Creating these fantasies in my head of what it would be like if Andy could in fact be a stay-at-home dad. {le sigh…}

Watching my babies grow right before my eyes. Rylee will have her first day of kindergarten next Tuesday. How? And Reese? Oh my. That girl changes daily. We’ve had a bit of a rough go of her going back to day care this week. Each day has been a little better but man…it’s not fun.

Holy moly, this post has been a whole lot of Poor me. Boo-hoo. Womp. Womp. Sad trombone.

I hate the end of summer. Clearly.

Catch ya on the flip side Summer…

Ok. Officially pretty much done complaining about that.

Actually, no promises, but I’ll try anyway.

Since I can’t leave this post on such a lame note…how about a cute photo…that’s my baby pretend feeding my very first baby doll, Tommy. {all together now…”awwwwwww…”}

{And as per the usual, I’m linking up with my girl Lindsey at Ot and Et. Have a blog? Join in would ya!?}

Currently…

So, let’s see…last week I rocked out multiple posts. This week? Notsomuch. It’s called life, yo. Instead of this little thing called blogging I’ve been…

watching American Ninja Warrior, that Rylee called “the ‘lympics” and Bear Gryls Get Out Alive show. On one hand I’m almost ashamed to admit I’m watching those things. On the other hand, we don’t have cable so we’re kinda limited and have you actually seen those shows? Dudes, American Ninja Warrior has some seriously crazy athletes. And not your typcial beef head football players. I’m talking truly amazingly strong impressive athletes…like…busting out pull-ups with nothing but their pinky finger. No bull. I saw it happen. It’s also adorable how into it Rylee gets. And the Bear Gryls show? Happens to come on right after ANW and it’s what I always imagined how Survivor should’ve been. I could do with less of the “gather around the campfire, you’re fired” drama-rama but whatevs. Like I said, no cable, we’re limited.

listening to a whole lot of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Have I been totally living under a rock? Wait, maybe don’t answer that.

writing a whole lotta nothing.

Not loving Extended Rear Facing at the moment. I mean, I love it because it’s going to keep my kiddo safe and all but holy moly. It takes some getting used to, that’s for sure. I don’t like not being able to see Reese easily. Then there was the whole installation of said seats. Yes, plural…we have two complete sets of car seats so we don’t have to constantly swap them between vehicles. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of information I found in the owner’s manual our brand new car…you’d think there would be information on how to properly install a rear-facing convertible seat using the LATCH system. Nope. In the end, they’re installed properly and they’re not going anyway and my kid is safe so yay.

creating a major to-do list today at work. There are so many projects happening and I find myself feeling like have ADD…unable to focus on and accomplish pretty much anything. It’s infuriating. I leave the office wondering what the hell I did all day and totally overwhelmed just thinking about the next day. So, I just need to start at the beginning and take each project and break it down into the manageable tasks it will take to accomplish the project and assign priorities and due dates. And-and-and. Seriously, there were a lot of “ands” in that last sentence. And seriously…its happening before I do anything else today. Wish me luck.

Currently is a weekly link-up with my girl Lindsey over at Ot and Et and I love playing along when I remember to.

And for good measure, how about a little photo-dump from my phone…

I love watching Reese’s little mind work. Her pretend play blows my mind.

Ry randomly asked to play BINGO the other night. I remember I used to LOVE BINGO when I was little.20130801-090244.jpg

Rylee is loving her swimming lessons. And she is seriously fearless.20130801-090334.jpg

These two seriously melt my heart.20130801-090357.jpg

I’m so H.O.T. it’s not even funny.

It’s true!

I’m totally HOT.

And no, I’m not talking about my looks. Because A) I’d like to think I’m a little bit more humble than that and 2) I’m just not.

I’m talking about H.O.T. AKA: High on Thrifting!

Now, I’m not even sure if this technically counts as thrifting…I’m not up on the official rules and such. But, considering I get completely overwhelmed in Old Navy’s clearance section, I’m gonna go with this.

Baby steps, people…baby steps.

A couple of weeks ago it was super warm out for this time of year and it made me realize that with a baby due at the end of July, homegirl’s gonna need some shorts come summer time. Not to mention I also realized that I had absolutely no Summer clothes for Rylee and ended up making her a pair of cut off jean shorts with a too-short pair of jeans.

And being that I’m cheap and all, I put out a call for help on facebook asking if anyone knew of any local places I could buy second hand maternity clothes.

{This is one of the many reasons I love social media}

I was told about this sale that would be happening soon…a big consignment sale that happens twice a year with all sorts of baby/kid related things…clothes! high chairs! toys! blankets! movies and books! you name it, they likely had it! And yea, even maternity clothes!

I quickly shot a text message to my girl Lindsey to see if she’d like to join me on this adventure, because I know she loves to thrift. We set a date for Saturday…half price day! And she was bringing the Starbucks!

Ok, moral of my story…I seriously scored!

Rylee’s now set for summer clothes…capris, 3 pair of shorts and a couple of tank tops. And I also found some 5T stuff for the fall. That little blazer!? I mean COME.ON. How could I pass that up? Especially considering it was only $2.50!

That little polka-dot top on the bottom left? I snagged that for baby sister. She’s way more than set for clothes, but I just couldn’t resist.

And this isn’t even all of it! I found a pair of maternity capri-slacks and a pair of shorts for me. I also found a Wiggles DVD that we’ll give to Ry for her birthday.

All in all, I got I think 15 pieces for $29!!

I’m hooked, y’all.

Watch out…next I may try the whole mouth breathing technique and brave a Good Will!
