Did you hear? I’m kind of a big deal…

Ok, well, that’s a lie…

I’m not really a big deal, but I do have big exciting news!

{no, I’m not pregnant}

I was recently asked to become a contributing writer for the blog “Liberating Working Moms“!

Liberating Working Moms, or LWM, is all about sharing what being a working mom is all about…“Ultimately, we are a group of moms, trying to get the word out about all the trepidations and rewards that come with being a working momma. It’s liberating to share our journeys of figuring out what works, what doesn’t, and what’s simply best for right now. Though the guise of this blog is under the working momma category, we hope that all moms will find something to read. Because really, all moms are moms. We all struggle. We all have rewards. We all need some advice. And we all have antics to tell about.”

You might remember this post I did about my {lack of} mom guilt. Well, I recently submitted an article for another guest post and Tracy asked if I’d like to come on board as an official contributor! Of course I said yes!!

This means you’ll find me over there a few times a month (along with some other fantastic & talented working mamas)  talking about routines, the coveted “me time”, day care woes, sharing quick weeknight recipes…pretty much all things working-mom. Of course, I’ll still be holding down the day to day over here too!

So, head on over and check out my first post as an “official contributor” where I’m talking about jealousy…just click HERE to go.

I hope you’ll love the community as much as I do!

The reason I needed an extra-big cup of coffee on Saturday.

We had a family camp-out in our living room on Friday night.

It was Rylee’s idea.

As we were getting everything set, we had this conversation about a half-dozen times…

Ry: I SO essited for our tamp-out! Daddy are you essited!?
A: Yes Ry!
Ry: Mommy, are you so essited for our tamp-out!?
Me: I sure am baby doll!
Ry: Dante, are you essited for our tamp-out!?
Dante: {blank stare}
Ry: Buddy’s essited too!!!!!!

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Between a couple of trips to the bathroom, a glass of water, being too hot, then being too cold I think we got a solid 4 hour stretch of sleep in there somewhere.

I love making memories with our girl.

Working with Style {3}

Fall is upon us here in the PNW that means I’ve put away my capris and skirts and pulled out my pants. Since I work in a very relaxed environment, I normally wear jeans, but I’ll be honest…I get sick of wearing jeans everyday. On the day I wore this I got asked why I was so “dressed up” no less than 3 times. See what I mean by relaxed? I mean, it’s not like I’m wearing a suit or anything!

Oh, and now that it’s fall, it means we’re using our wood stove, hence the stacks of wood…I think I’ll need to find a new place to take my photos…

That necklace and bag? I love them both. They each came from a different grandmother, yet the coordinate so well, am I right!? Technically, the bag is actually one of Rylee’s dress-up bags, but I totally snagged it for this outfit. Shhh…that’ll be our little secret.

I linked up with Liberating Working Moms new “Working with Style” again this week.

This NEVER Happens…

Seriously…this has never happened.

Quick back story: on the way to take Ry to school yesterday, she asked if we could go play at a park after I picked her up that night. I told her we’d see how the weather was and then decide.

Now, moving on…

Andy was at a Suicide Training Seminar yesterday which meant two things…he’d be done with “work” at 5 PM and he wouldn’t have a 45 minute commute home.

He called me at 4:45 PM saying he was leaving and he’d pick Rylee up. He never gets the chance to pick her up {especially daycare} because he works so late. I told him about my park date promise to Ry and he said he’d take her to play before they came home. Then he asked if that meant I’d stay late at work.

I thought for a minute…I definitely had work I could be doing if I stayed late…but…crap, this has never happened before! So I said, screw it, I’ll leave at 5 too and meet them at the park!

The weather was perfect.

We laughed. We chased. We climbed. We zip-lined. We played.

This is exactly what my soul needed.
