Wedding Blog Hop: Little Miss Rylee’s Parents Tie the Knot!

I have been stalking following other mama-blogs for the last few months. Every month a group of them get together and do a blog hop. There’s been a nursery tour, home tour and garden tour. I’ve never been put together enough to participate. Even now, I’m 4 days late to the party! But, since it is wedding season, my best friend is getting married in 4 days and we will be celebrating our 5th anniversary this year, I thought I would join in the party. Plus, if you’re the bride, you’re not actually late to your wedding, everyone else is just early. Right?

Let me just start by saying I got married the day after my 21st birthday. No really, the day after. That made for a very traumatizing fun bachelorette/21-er combo, courtesy of my bridesmaids.

Gettin’ mah hair-did.
Andy and I had been together for nearly 4 years on our wedding day. I was very relaxed and ready. The bridesmaids and I all met at the salon to get our hair-did. On August 13, 2005, “Don’t Cha” by Pussy Cat Dolls was very popular…we literally heard that song 15 times throughout the day. Not kidding. Every time I hear that song, I think of my wedding day.
The Formals
Dan and Whitney from BLISS studio did our wedding photos. Back then (wow, that’s scary to say) they were Moments & Memories. We’ve been hooked on their photography ever since. We had a Catholic ceremony, sans communion. My bouquets and flowers were gorgeous courtesy of my madre. My dress was not at all what I thought I wanted, but perfect nonetheless. I ended up with rips and grass stains even before the ceremony. We had fun. The hubs only had one requirement. He wanted to wear his Birkenstocks. So he did. It was great. We drove away in his 1978 Toyota Landcruiser. Lifted 4 inches. Painted bright orange (in our garage, the week before the wedding). With a bikni top. I wish I had digital pics of me climbing into that beast!
The Grandmas
This was probably almost more meaningful to me than the ceremony itself. Both of my grandmothers were very sick and we did not know if they would be able to make it to my wedding. For the grandma on the left,I was the first grandchild to get married. For the grandma on the right, well, her and I had something special (that’s her gold heart locket I am wearing). They both passed away about a year later.
The Reception
My sisters getting the champagne ready for the toasts!
We had our reception at a local park along a river. We roasted an entire pig and had a big BBQ. There was eating. There was dancing. There were toasts.
Five years later, we’re just as happy!
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed your visit!

You're so beautiful! I love your hair – gorgeous curls :) Mommy likes your bridesmaids' dresses – purple is her favorite color. And you're not late at all – the hop will be open all week!

Your pictures are beautiful! I would not have been able to swing the big 2-1 AND a wedding reception, the next day must NOT have been pleasant for your head. LOL!Lisa

I love your photos! Bliss is a great studio! When I was reading your post I got all excited when I read that your husband's name is Andy. I pretty much jumped in my seat with excitement that our husbands have the same name – how random is that?!
