Working With Style {7}

Nothing much to report here…oh looks…Jeans again! I did however, take advantage of the ON 30% off sale last weekend and when their website was finally done screwing me over, I bought some not-jeans-not-slacks pants! They’re hang-drying right now {stupid long legs}.

The ?? with those boots? Well, those boots were a hand-me-down from my mom who can no longer where heels, and, well, I’m too lazy to get off my butt and check them for a brand. We call that shirt my pirate shirt…well, my husband calls that my pirate shirt…I just stopped arguing about it. Whatevs…it’s my pirate shirt and I own it. Ha.

Hope everyone’s having a great weekend so far!

Check back tomorrow for my “Sunday Review” of a new recipe we tried over the week!

On Happy Hour and Food Babies

I am semi cheating with this post as part of NaBloPoMo. I hand wrote this last night after I got home, and am typing it up the next day. Forgive me?

******

Tonight I left work a little early to meet a couple of girlfriends for happy hour.

As we get settled in, we agree that it’s been far too long since our last get together. Then we spend the next 5 minutes trying to remember when it actually was. We never figure it out, but decide that the next time, we won’t wait as long…even though we all know it probably will be too long.

We chat. We laugh. We eat way too many of those fantastic little shoestring french fries. {No seriously, I totally have a food baby as I write this} {Double serious: I still have a food baby as I’m typing this}

As my belly fills, so does my heart…I don’t even realize how badly I’ve needed this until I’m there soaking it all in. I so needed this.

I get home right before bedtime and my little red head runs to me the instant I step foot in the door. I hug her tight and take her to bed.

I needed that too.

And now? If you’ll excuse me, I’m off to spend some quality time with the hubby.

Oh hey look! There’s those jeans and boots! again.

I am seriously getting kind of sick of just wearing jeans. I even had a real-deal offsite meeting this week and went to my closet for my favorite pair of slacks only to remember they’re in my “take to the dry cleaners” pile. Then, all the rest of my slacks I had in my closet are too big. Jeans again. WOMP.

Last weekend Tracy tweeted about a great sale at OldNavy.com so I went there, found some cute not jeans, but not quite slacks, tried to buy them and the website crashed. Lame.

This is how rumors get started…

My sister called me the other day to tell me a funny story.

My sister was talking to a Mary Kay customer of hers (yes, my sis is an MK consultant). This customer of hers is a friend of a friend of an in-law of mine…or something like that. Through their conversation about make-up-y things, they were catching on family life in general.

She asked what Rylee was going to be for Halloween. How old she was now, etc. Normal common ground chit-chat small talk-type stuff.

Then she asked if everything was ok with Andy and me.

My sister, kind of taken aback from this question out of what seemed like nowhere, said, yes of course, why do you ask?

Well, she went on to tell my sister how she was in town recently and went to the new Cosmos store in the mall and could’ve sworn she saw Rylee and me in picutres on the walls. But, it just couldn’t have been us because the man pictured was not Andy. She was confused. And concerned.

And the next time she spoke to her friend, who happens to be my sister-in-law {who, aside from family gatherings we happen to not really talk to} she asked what, if anything, was going on with Andy and I. I guess My sister-in-law just replied with an “I don’t know” sort of answer.

About that point in the conversation my sister laughed, assured her that everything was fine and that dude in the photos was just a model because Andy had to work on the day the photo shoot was scheduled.

Or maybe it was about that point in my sister telling me the story that I busted out laughing at it all…I can’t exactly remember now.

I seriously laugh out loud and just kind of shake my head thinking about it now.

And do think…it was all because of these photos…

I think it just goes to show you…we are very convincing models.

#1…I’ve actually stuck to doing a weekly thing on the blog for 5 weeks straight now. Crazy right!? Oh, the other thing I’ve stuck to is our weekly dinners.

#2…I really have to share the entire, original, unedited photo here because seriously? My back yard rocks. And also? A gorgeous sunset was happening.

#3…Ok, here’s the outfit.

#4…I love my Tiffany’s necklace…my very best friend, lovingly referred to as Bestest, gave me this as my bridesmaid gift for her wedding.

#5…HOLY CRAP I have fingernail polish on! The last time that happened was at said best friend’s wedding over a year ago! I polished them for the halloween party we went to last weekend but actually think I like it for maybe more than just weddings and parties. We’ll see…

#6…Tomorrow we’re going to see Disney on Ice – Toy Story 3 and I can’t wait!! Ry could kind of care less as she says “Toy Story is for boys” Whaa?? Crazy kid.

I linked up with Liberating Working Moms new “Working with Style” again this week.
