Things to NOT say/do to a pregnant lady…

This pregnancy isn’t my first rodeo, yet people still blow my mind {and not in a good way}. I remember when I was pregnant with Reese, our office was celebrating the month’s birthdays with cake and a coworker made a joke about how it looked like I didn’t need any cake.

Umexcusemewhat!?

Over the course of the last 7 years, I’ve grown 3 kids, been around a number of pregnant ladies, and learned a thing or two about what you should, more like shouldn’t, say to a pregnant lady.

Feel free to consider this a Public Service Announcement from pregnant women everywhere.

After not seeing her for a week or more, do NOT awkwardly bend over and look at her belly close-up, wide-eyed in wonder and amazement and say “woooooow!

After she jokingly reprimands you for the previous comment do NOT say, “I can’t help it, you’re just getting SO BIG!”

After she not-so-jokinlgy reprimands you for that previous comment, do NOT say, “Is it twins!?”

After she responds that she’s walking away from you now before she says something that wouldn’t be very nice, do NOT shout down the hallway, “was it something I said!?”

Pro tip: pregnant ladies already feel large and in-charge…and not in the sexy domineering way…they don’t need to be reminded that they’re gaining weight by the minute. Do not ever, under any circumstances make any comment about anything other than how beautiful she looks. Period. Because if not? They may get “irritable“.

And yes, the aforementioned conversation actually happened.

29 weeks, tomorrow. Only 11 weeks left of stupid comments.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to eat my feelings. They taste like cookies.

Oh Boy! 28 Weeks

20140715-093121-34281313.jpg

How far along? 28 weeks, 3 days {AKA: 82 days to go. AKA: What the what!?}

Total weight gain/loss: +18 lbs “Right on track” according to my OB, but I think he was just trying to make me feel better.

Stretch marks? I’m working on a pretty awesome Harry Potter style stretch mark right above my belly button where my belly button ring used to be.

Maternity Clothes: I’d say 80/20. I have GOT to find a pair of maternity shorts because holy cow it’s getting hot!

Sleep: I tend to wake up a lot through the night, but I think it’s mostly because of Rylee & Reese and not pregnancy related.

Best moment this month: Good question…to be honest there hasn’t been any stand-out awesome moments

Movement: Yep, definitely an active little guy but I’ve noticed he tends to hang out deeper in the belly than the girls did. A funny thing I’ve noticed too is there’s a rounded body part that hangs out in the upper right portion of my torso just like Reese did.

Gender: Pretty sure it’s still a boy.

Labor Signs: Nope

Food Cravings: Nothing.

Belly Button in or out? Out.

What I miss: A good night of sleep? Sleeping in later than 5:30 am…then again those are not pregnancy related so much as older-sibling related.

What I am looking forward to: Getting his nursery ready. But in order to get that going, we need to move Reese into Ry’s room. But in order to do that we have to move her desk into the office. But in order to do that we have to rearrange/purge a bunch of stuff. But in order to do that…well I think you get the idea. We’ll get there. Pretty sure.

Baby Milestones: Baby is about the size of an eggplant, 2.25 lbs. according to my app.

Other Goodness: I wouldn’t exactly call this “good”, but we discovered recently we’ll need to buy a new car. Womp. We were hoping that just buying 3 new car seats that we’d be ok, but while the 3 new seats technically fit in the car, Rylee won’t be able to buckle herself in…that’s kinda key, right? So, basically if all 3 kids were still in 5-point harnesses it wouldn’t be an issue, but since we have to actually access the seat buckle, it’s a no-go. We’ve got a car picked out, now we’re just waiting for the financing to be right.

At my appointment yesterday my doctor ended it with, “So, see you in 2 weeks?” And apparently the holy-shit-2weeks-already panic look that shot across my face made him say, “well, since everything is going so well, we can go another 4 but after that it’ll be 2.” I just…I cannot comprehend how we are already at THAT point in this pregnancy.

82 days…Does.Not.Compute.

Oh Boy! 20 Weeks

Well, here we are officially 20 weeks into this pregnancy. It’s more than halfway over at this point, so I figured it might be time to do some documenting or something. Let’s start with the standard crappy iPhone bathroom bump selfie that’s already over a week old.

How far along? 20 weeks, 2 days {photo above at 19 weeks}
Total weight gain/loss: +6 lbs
Stretch marks? None on the belly, sadly my ass didn’t get the memo that we are anti-stretchmark. Though no guarantee they are from this particular pregnancy.
Maternity Clothes: Made the move to mostly maternity pants somewhere between 18 and 19 weeks. Regular tops are still ok.
Sleep: I feel like I have narcolepsy this time around…it could also be the fact I’ve got two other kids keeping me busy. Overall I’m sleeping really well right now…thanks to the sheer exhaustion. I could be up anywhere from 0-3 times a night to pee…but that’s also dependent on whether or not Rylee and/or Reese wake me up in the middle of the night. Basically, if I get woken up, I have to pee.
Best moment this month: Finding out it’s a boy! That’s a moment that I will never forget.
Movement: So much. Most active when I am driving to work in the morning. First kicks were felt at 15 weeks. No one has been able to feel them from the outside yet but the kicks are getting stronger and stronger so it’s just a matter of days, I’m sure.
Gender: It’s a BOY!

20140519-151337-54817064.jpg
Labor Signs: Nope
Food Cravings: Nothing in particular. Early on I was all about cereal…so much like my pregnancy with Rylee.
Belly Button in or out? Neutral…but to my poor belly’s credit, it never went back to normal after I had Reese.
What I miss: Alcohol. Which is so weird considering I never really missed it during my other two pregnancies.
What I am looking forward to: Andy being able to feel his SON kick. :)
Baby Milestones: Baby is about the length of a banana and, according to our ultrasound, weighs about 11 ounces.
Other Goodness: I braved my very first garage sale over the weekend. It was a sale for all things kid/baby. I went without many expectations and was able to find a few cute onesies but the big score was a Pottery Barn bedding set for $15! It boyish, but not crazy boyish. It’s white with old-fashioned airplanes on it with red& blue  and yellow & green accents. It will work well with our already yellow wall and other yellow and green things like changing pads, glider-rocker, etc. It’s super cute and it happens to go perfectly with a model airplane of the plane Andy’s grandfather flew in WWII that Grandpa himself made.
