I’ll Consider it a WIN!

For the first ever visit with Santa, I’ll consider this a win. She was a little apprehensive at first, sitting on my knee instead of the big-guy’s. She said she didn’t want her picture taken with him. I was fully prepared to walk away with nothing. Then, Santa asked her for a hug. And she complied. Then when she turned around? Click.

She did make sure to ask Santa for…wait for it…candy.

Candy? Candy. Where the heck did she get that from?! That’s it. I’m taking back everything else we got for her…like the toddler-tough digital camera, the play-doh and the puzzles and I’m getting her a bag of M&M’s.

Done.

How Lovely are Thy Branches

It only took until a week before Christmas Eve, but we finally decorated our Christmas tree last night! If this is any indication of how Rylee will be on Christmas, I cannot wait! She was totally into it!

I think the photos will speak for themselves…and if not, no worries, I included captions.

Placing the ornament “just so”. {I love how she is holding her fingers}
That candle stick one on the left? Yea, I made that in Kindergarten.
Daddy helping out. {I’ll give you one guess where most Ry’s ornaments are}
Had to include the typical Andy shot. {He thinks he is SO funny}
Ry and Mama. {Hmmm…I wonder where she gets her curls from?}
Me: “Rylee, this is you when you were a baby”
Rylee: “It’s Beebee Rylee!”
Rylee: “Hey Look Daddy! Beebee Rylee!”
 Rylee: “Daddy…take a hikture a me!”
The finished product.
And, just because I’m cool like that…

Time to go hunting…

Christmas Tree Hunting that is!

The last 2 years we haven’t actually gone out and cut down a Christmas tree. I was so ready to get back out there and actually cut one down ourselves (read: Andy). And apparently so was Ry…

Tree huntin’ with Daddy…
{And, oh yes, those are Carhartt rain gear pants in bright.ass.orange. Safety first people, safety first.}
Hmmm…yup…this one looks pretty good.
And when I tell Ry to go stand over there and say cheese this is what I get…

Mama and Ry.
And when I wonder why Andy’s back always hurts, I will remember this. So much for taking it easy.
You guys? The morning was perfect. It didn’t rain. The sun actually peeked out from the clouds. Ry had a blast. And we found our tree in less than 10 minutes!
We still need to decorate the tree…depending on what time Andy gets home from work, maybe tonight. Or maybe tomorrow. But don’t worry…there will be plenty of photos to enjoy!
P.S. Do you love Ry’s cute little hat? You can find them HERE.

Uncle Spencer Did It

I got the text message from Julia that her and Spencer were on their way over just after 6 PM. Within seconds there was another message coming through that said “Tell Ry Uncle Spencer has a surprise for her.”

Of course I wondered what it could be.

When they arrived Julia picked Rylee up and the search for the “surprise” was on.

Up first…a Sesame Street holiday coloring book. {Sure, that could totally be Uncle Spencer’s doing}

Next?…a “sharable size” bag of M&M’s. {hmmm…starting to get a little suspicious}

And Finally?…a 2-pack of vanilla flavored, glittery lip gloss. {WOW “Uncle Spencer”, you sure have good girly taste!}

Riiiggghhhttt…I’m sure it was ALL Uncle Spencer’s idea…
