Respect the Turkey: The Menu

This is all a little late, I know but Wow! The holiday Season is upon us! Hello even-busier-than-normal life! But, since I “Respect the Turkey” I must make my Thanksgiving posts. There will be a whole series in fact. So get ready and consider yourself warned.

Our Thanksgiving was, well, pretty awesome. It had all the right stuff. Good Food. Family. Laughter. Wine.

I hosted my first ever Thanksgiving. Originally, I was expecting about 18 people so I made a menu plan, grocery list and to-do list for said 18 people. We ended up with 11 and I never adjusted down so we ended up with a LOT of food. But, I love me some Thanksgiving leftovers so I was not complaining!

My sister and I started cooking on Wednesday night and pretty much didn’t stop until we ate dinner at 4 the next day. After you see the menu, you’ll know why.

Disclaimer here: My mom brought the pies over. And, I know I’m missing something here, but I can’t remember what.

The menu:

Appetizers:
Venison Therringer
Cheese & Crackers
Roasted Garlic and baguette bread
7 layer dip
Mushroom Tart
Veggies & Dill dip
Bacon and Swiss Quiche (actually leftover from breakfast, but whatevs.)

Dinner:
22 lb Turkey {It was Crazy, I know!}
Gravy (duh)
Stuffing
Mac-n-Cheese
Mashed Potatoes
Rolls (sort of)
Cauliflower something yummy
Brussel Sprouts
Green Jello Salad
Green Bean Casserole

Dessert:
Bread Pudding
Lemon Meringue Pie
Chocoloate Pie
Blueberry Cheesecake
Apple Pie

*******
UPDATE: My lovely sister reminded me what I forgot, so please add the following to the list:
Pumpkin pie
Pumpkin/cranberry muffins
Homemade cranberry sauce
Canned cranberry jelly stuff
Olives
Yams
*******

The Goods.
Prepping the Appetizers.
The Table Setting.
The Master Chefs taking a quick break.
{I seriously don’t know what I would do without her.}
{And yes, we have matching/coordinating aprons.}
{We’re cool like that.}
I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving! Here’s to a wonderful holiday season!

I got nothin’…

Well my nice quiet evening of blogging I had planned came to an annoying halt after trying to upload photos from the last 2 days about a dozen times to no avail.  And to be honest…I’ve got nothing compelling to write. I’ve been majorly sucking at this blogging thing lately.

Work has been very busy and Ry was sick. Throw in Thanksgiving -cooking, -hosting and -eating then hiking Spencer’s Butte and spending nearly 6 hours standing making Christmas wreaths for family I.am.exhausted.

So there. I’m done blogging right now because I need a break to recover from the last couple of weeks and oh I don’t know, live. I’ll catch up soon, I promise.

Fashiona-bee Late

Better late than never. And when you’re this cute it totally doesn’t matter!

Bee-hold, our little red-headed bumble bee.

Thanks to Auntie Julia and Uncle Spencer for letting us come over and trick or treat your neighborhood and let us pass out candy with you! We are looking forward to many more Halloweens together!

It wasn’t me

As my Monday flew by I couldn’t help but think I should blog today…but what about? Then, I read my friend Karey’s blog and made me crack up. And it inspired me.

Yes, that’s it. We’ll call it inspiration. That sounds much better than flat stealing her ideas. :)

To start things off the right way…I totally didn’t read a friends blog and use the idea of her blog post to write my own.

It was not me that “made” cheap hotdogs, frozen french fries and leftover microwave mac-n-cheese for dinner for my 2 year old daughter and me tonight.

And I definitely didn’t move her highchair around so that she could watch the rest of her Dora video that I had turned on to “make” dinner.

Oh, and I didn’t cave and let her have any ice cream after I told her that if she got down from her seat she couldn’t and she quickly and sweetly replied that she was “getting down to help me”.

And no way did I drizzle chocolate syrup all over my bowl of ice cream.

Oh and on Saturday, it didn’t take me almost all of Rylee’s 2 hour nap to fold all of the clothes that were piled up on the guest bed.

And those clothes are not still sitting in a basket on the floor in that same room. Nope.

Most certainly not me.
