Can Your Manicured Nails do THIS!?

Julia’s wedding is right around the corner…as in this weekend! She was very adamant about not wanting a bachelorette party (She either lived vicariously through mine, or was traumatized by it, I can’t quite figure it out). Instead, she wanted a spa day. So, that’s what we did, the maids, the mom and the bride all went to the spa. We all had pedicures at the same time a most of us all had something else like a facial or massage. I chose to have my first ever official manicure. For those of you that know me…this is kind of a big deal. While I have a desk job, I am not easy on my nails. I don’t actually think I have had my finger nails polished since high school. Anyway, got the manicure, it was great. And I spent the whole rest of the day worried I was going to chip my nails!

After the spa day, I headed home, had lunch with the fam, then while Andy went out to mow the “yard”, Ry and I headed into town to pick up a graduation gift for my cousin Tyler. After that, we headed over to the grad party. Andy met us there. We had a great time. Nearly the whole family was there. (Side note: I seriously have the best.cousins.ever.)
Anyway, point is, through all of this, I never once chipped my nails. I was pretty stoked. After Ty’s party, the maids and the bride all met up for Sushi (another side note: my new favorite it spicy tune tahini roll!). We had a few drinks, ate a bunch of food, then went across the street for some excellent gelatto. Fantastic evening. No chipped nails.
When we were leaving, I heard a funny, not-quite-right noise as I was pulling out of the parking lot. A little ways down the road, thinking I may have a flat tire, I pulled off and checked my tires. All was well. But I knew the sound I was hearing was not right, so I drove the whole way home with my window down. I was over halfway home, then it happened. I got the flat tire I was fearing. I pulled off onto a side street and called Andy. It was 10:30 PM, Ry was long asleep. He said to give him a few minutes and he would be on his way. We hung up the phone and I sat there thinking, this is stupid. I’m not helpless. So, I did what any independent, self sufficient mama would do. I got out and started to change my flat tire! I lowered the spare from the bottom of the car, jacked up the car and pulled off the flat. By that time, Andy called me and said he was almost there. So I positioned the spare and left the rest for him.

Even though Andy told me he wished I would have just waited in the car instead of changing a flat tire on a dark side road at 10:30 at night, I know he was secretly glad I did because that meant it wouldn’t take him as long and he wouldn’t have to be too hard on his back. My nails? Oh yea, perfect! My hands were totally dirty, but I got 3/4 of the way though changing my flat tire and never chipped my nails!
Post Summary: Mine Can. BOO-yah!

And while I am awesome enough to get 3/4 of the way through changing a tire without chipping my nails, I can’t do this without you.
