The Life of a Wife of a Teacher

How many people can say they love their job? I mean really love it…not many. I happen to be one of those people. So much so, that I couldn’t wait to go back to work after I had Rylee…literally, I was practically running out the door when she was 3 weeks old! I love what I do. I’ve known what “I wanted to be when I grow up” since high school. I went straight to college, declared my major and never looked back. I took Summer classes and graduated with my degree before I turned 21. There’s a lot of different things I love about my job. The people I work with, both internally and externally. The fact that no two days are ever the same. Even just the industry I’m in. There’s only a few times a year when I don’t love my job – March, June and December. Those times of year happen to be the beginning of breaks for my husband, the teacher.

Let me just say, he earns and deserves those breaks! I couldn’t (don’t even want to) imagine teaching middle school. Hats off to all teachers!! But, there’s just something I hate about these times of year when I am the only one who has to go to work in the morning. It’s hard to get out of bed. My routine is thrown off. I can honestly say I’m even a little jealous that he gets to stay home with Ry. They have a special little bond because of it.

As of 4:15 PM today, Andy will officially be on Spring Break for the next whole week. As of 4:15 this afternoon, I will still be at work.

My hubs had a wife who was a teacher. I was bummed that he never got those breaks with me. I agree, though, that teaches would not survive if it wasn't for those breaks. I can't believe that you went back after 3 weeks! You are hard core. I haven't gone back yet and don't know if I want to! We'll see what happens.Maybe having Andy home for a week will mean he will do stuff like cook for you and do the laundry? :)

Gaby–That is one fantastic thing about Andy being home…the house is always clean, laundry and dishes done! I really can't complain about that!
