Ahh yes…the name game.

That seems to be the question/topic on everyone’s mind lately!

I suppose that may be because we’re less than 60 days from go-time with this little girl steadily growing in my belly and we have yet to decide on a name.

It’s killing me it’s taken us this long to figure out/decide on a name for this girl. Mostly because with Rylee? Well, we knew that if we had a girl, her name would be Rylee from the time before we were ever even engaged. So, the moment that ultrasound tech told us we were having a girl {well, from the moment I stopped sobbing} we knew we had a Rylee.

Fast forward 4 years. Anytime someone asks the question “So you have a name picked out?” instead of going into a big long explanation of how we don’t, but we have some front runners, blah blah blah, the easiest answer is to just say “nope…she may never!”

We’ve been kicking around names from the day we found out we were having a girl. There’ve been some HELL NOs and some decent potential candidates.

But here’s the thing about “potential candidates”…the second I tell you of the name(s) we’re thinking of, it’s like opening up this big can of worms that almost entitles you to giving us your opinions on said names. And to be totally honest, I don’t care if that name reminds you of a dog’s name or that you knew a girl with that name back in the 7th grade and she was a total yitch.

So, for the most part, we’ve kept our potentials to ourselves.

We’ve gone back and forth on a couple of names. One Andy LOVES, that I actually love too but can’t completely bring myself to say with 100% certainty that THAT should be our baby girl’s name. And another that would be the middle name for Andy’s top pick, that would also be a good first name option.

Back in April, I thought for sure we had the first name decided. It came up on a road trip I threw it out there and Andy said, well why don’t we just have that name be her first name then? SURE! I thought, holy crap that was easy. Then we had to come up with a middle name. Turns out that was just as challenging. Then a few weeks later, Andy tells me “Well… I really still like ____ the best.”

Aaaand…back to square one.

CUE THE HEAD EXPLOSION!

So. That’s where we’re at.

Still no final decision on a name.

We have the two “front runners” but I’m still always throwing new names out there to see if any stick.

Less than 60 days until go-time.

And back to the exploding head bit.

This is pretty much how we named Abby…Abigail was a front runner…but never nailed it down till we saw her. Up till that point, we for sure were thinking Madelyn. So shhhhh…don't tell anyone. All bets are off once you lay your eyes on new baby girl.

This is another reason I'm sort of reluctant to say "WE DECIDED ON A NAME!" What if we decide to change our minds? This is seriously starting to give me anxiety. lol

I was so shocked when we had a girl and a boy name so quickly without some huge arguments! I cannot wait to hear what you choose!

I'm not even pregnant, but for the longest time I've had a name picked out. I'm even planning to use it for a boy or a girl, the middle name will also be important for me, but I figure that can be decided when I'm actually pregnant. :)
